I was watching Interview last night, and it suddenly dawned on me just how fucked up Anne Rice is. A lot of the books of hers that I've read have slightly disturbing subjects. Mostly incest and pedophilia (GROSS).
Mayfair Witches: incest, pedophilia, and mad hot creepy demon shagging.
The Vampire Chronicles: pedophilia- Armand/Marius(The Vampire Armand and maybe Blood And Gold, I can't remember if Marius and Armand cross paths in Marius' book.) Louis/Claudia(Interview) incest:Lestat/Gabrielle(The Vampire Lestat)
I'm almost tempted to list the blatant homoeroticism as an "issue", but honestly, why? There's nothing wrong with homosexuality or bisexuality, but the other shit she writes about-CREEPY.
kay. Done now.

Oh I've read the Flowers in the Attic series. Haven't read anything else by VC Andrews, my mom's got a bunch of her books. Flowers in the Attic creeped me the fuck out, as did the twincest, and the twincest miscarriage. Read the Song of Ice and Fire series, already. It has incest and pedophilia, too. Then again, the pedophilia is really just by our modern standards, as it's the equivalent of the Middle Ages in that world. The pedophilia, like I said, is really not emphasized. Sure, guys are hot for 12-year-old girls, but by that point, they could be married. I don't recall any, say, child love-slaves or anything.... The incest, though... Well... Let's just say that the ruling family over the past couple hundred years or so had a habit of marrying brother to sister.... (Anonymous)
The Mayfair Witches
Dude. Okay, I read all three of the Mayfair books. The first one was so captivating, and the second one...(for me, of course) just dragged on, and after I finished that one, I had to read the third one, and complete the series. The first book had been so great, I thought, it will end like....I was expecting enlightenment, or something! And got nothing from it. :-| Lol. I've read Lestat, that book was awesome. But, then I read the Mayfair witches. I haven't read an Anne Rice novel since. Man, I wish the ending had been more intense. It was quite twisted, but....idk. Nevermind. I just came by to say hello!! Re: The Mayfair Witches
See I thought the last 100 pages of the Witching Hour were the best. I couldn't even get through the first chapter of Lasher. |
