"Open up your mind let your fantasies unwind"

Tonight Jay and I saw Phantom of the Opera, and it was AMAZING! Gerard Butler played and incredible Phantom, his voice is wonderful, and he really does give Michael Crawford a run for his money. It's a little shocking to think that this was his first musical *ever*. As expected I cried during Music of the Night which is the most hauntingly beautiful song of the musical. I forgot about All I Ask of You, during which I completely lost my head. I sobbed into Jay's coat during the whole song. Emmy Rossum played a wonderful Christine, and while her voice isn't as good as Sarah Brightman's, it certainly comes close. I loved the way she sang Think of Me, her voice made it so pure and angelic. It is the most beautiful film I have ever seen, and it is easy to see how it got nominated for the Oscar for Best Cinematography. The transition from the auction into the actual story was brilliant. Some parts of it were changed, little things really, Andrew Lloyd Webber has written new music for it including a new song for the end credits sung by Minnie Driver (who btw was *perfect* as Carlotta). I could gush about it for hours, which Jay and I already did, but if you haven't seen it, you MUST!
